VINEPAIR, The 12 Best Boxed Wines (2022), by Katie Brown [read article]
#1. SANDY GIOVESE VINO ROSSO ($34)
With a clever name and package design, it would be easy to discount the wine inside this bag-in-box as merely eye-catching. But don’t underestimate this classic Sangiovese. It hits all the notes we look for in an everyday sipper: It’s easy-drinking, with good acidity that balances the bitter sweetness of cranberry and cherry fruit flavors. This is the perfect pasta night wine, and can be enjoyed on its own while cooking and entertaining.

WNYC Radio, Boxed Wines to Kick Off the Holiday Weekend, by [listen]
Wine consultant Amy Ezrin joins us to recommend a few affordable and eco-friendly boxed wine options ahead of the holiday weekend and to talk about developing her own wine-in-a box project.
The Origin of Sandy Giovese
This is me, Amy Ezrin. Once upon a time I was training to be an opera singer and ended up living in Italy for 8 years. I was an OK singer, but I was really good at speaking Italian and tasting wine, so I became a wine importer. I often joked that my alter ego was Sandy Giovese, a play on the name of one of Italy’s greatest red grapes, Sangiovese. Sandy Giovese’s dream is for everyone to enjoy a chilled glass of honest wine from a juicy box that is also helping you save the planet just a little bit. Cheers!
